the "my computer" icon on the desktop when opened does not show c or d drives only control and a drive. I have access to the files on c drive via the advanced desktop. I need to know what steps to do to get the icons back onto "my computer".

Hi,

Just for the fun of it, make a new shortcut to your file explorer with
this at the target, providing of course you're installed in the same
path.

C:\WINNT\explorer.exe /e,

This should open and look just like the my computer icon was doing.

Are your drives showing in this new shortcut window?

This method worked with separate icons on desktop for the other drives
Thanks

Wonderful!

That's what I'm using too, different icons for each drive, not because
the main boy is broken, it's just easier with one for each.

You can finish out the link with your drive letter, like the C: drive
below, and it'll be expanded folder view too.

C:\WINNT\explorer.exe /e,C:

---==X={}=X==---
