MISSING FONT KEEPS RE-APPEARING

I have course notes that were started years ago that I continually update. I
used the "Technical" font which is not available on my new PC. Despite
attempts to edit/replace all instances of "technical" font with a currently
installed font, the technical font continues to resurface whenever I begin a
new page within the document. I tried copying everything into a new blank
document that was based on a new default font (arial) but to no avail. It
costs me hours to continually search/replace instances of the technical font
after editing my docs. Any ideas?

if you don't mind ALL your text being the same font try option 1.

if you want only the "techincal" font replaced try option 2
OPTION 1
[EDIT]
[REPLACE]
click in the "replace with" box and
[FORMAT]
[FONT]
select the font you want and
[OK]
[REPLACE ALL]

OPTION 2
[EDIT]
[REPLACE]

you'll get a dialog box

with your cursor in the "FIND" box, click the "MORE" button
[FORMAT]
[FONT]
it get's tricky here
type "technical" and press ok (it won't show up in your font list)
[OK]

click in the "REPLACE WITH" box and
[FORMAT]
[FONT]
select the font you want and
[OK]
[REPLACE ALL]

oops, you'll have to click on the [MORE] button in option 1 also.

sorry

My guess is that (some of) the paragraph styles in your document are
formatted with the technical font and that you have used manual formatting
to change them to Arial. Redefine the style(s) to use Arial, check the add
to template check box, then select all the document CTRL+A and then hit
CTRL+Space to remove the manual formatting.
