Missing folders and files from My Documents

Most all of my files and folders in My Documents have turned up missing after
having restarted my computer after loading McAfee. I don't see the files
during a Windows search, and there was no indication of files being deleted
while loading. Has anybody heard of this kind of problem, and how to fix it?

no signs in recycle box except 3 folders deleted weeks ago;
