Missing Folder Icons

Hi, for some strange reason, I'm missing the default Vista folder icon. They
will only show when set to "Medium Icons" and higher or "Tiles" when
selecting Views in Windows Explorer but will switch to generic icons when set
between "Medium Icons" and "Small Icons" and also "Details". The folder icons
also do not show in the taskbar and in the start menu when clicking "All
Programs". The files seem to be searching for a non-existant icon in
shell32.dll thus showing a generic XP shortcut icon instead of the proper
default Vista folder icon.

There a also quite a few blank icons showing in the shell32.dll file when
selecting an icon but someone on the Neowin forums informed me that many of
the new Vista icons are located in imageres.dll, but I still cannot find the
default Vista folder icon as shown below in the imageres.dll or shell32.dll
files. Any help would be appreciated and maybe if someone could upload their
Vista icon files so maybe that can fix it? Or by any chance, if you right
click on any folder in your C drive and tell me what file and folder icon it
uses?

These are the icons in question:

Here's a few shots I took to show my problem:

Well the properties of the folders still points to the shell32. But I dont
see it in there.

So what did you do? Were you hacking the shell32? Or replaced it or
something? Seems weird that there would be blank icons actually in the
shell32.dll.

Just to let you know, I just replaced the #4 icon in the imageres.dll so that
it would show a different icon for an open folder.

So #3 is closed folder
And #4 is open folder

If you want, I can post the #3 icon for you somewhere if you want.

tydev417,
I have exactly the same problem as you only I am missing the icons in my
favourites on IE7 on the dropdown menu and also when I go and search for a
folder the icons are missing. Did you ever manage to get this rectified as I
have been working on it for days and just cannot solve it.
I can also go into the my fav folder under my user account and the icons are
all in there at different sizes so very strange.

Anyway any help much appreciated.

David
