Missing Files

I've recently upgraded my computer from one with Windows
95 to one with Windows XP. I had saved a number of files -
mostly photos and letters - onto a number of CD-R CD's
beforehand that now wont open on the new machine. The
properties box for the drives show the discs as being
full but with no files/folders present. Any ideas what
I'm doing wrong ??
