Hello,
I just installed Norton System Works 2003, after running
a system diagnstic, it gave me this reported error:
"C:\WINDOWS\System32\MAPISRVR.EXE" cannot access a
necessary file, "gapi32.dll."

so obviously somewhere, this file is missing... dn i was
wondering if anyone knows where i can get it..
i'm also experiencing shut down problems, such as when i
go to shut down my computer, it takes a really long timen
then an error message saying: "end program...please
wait...error while shutting down iexplore.exe" or
something along those lines...
anyway I have no idea if the problems are related, but
was wondering if anyone has experienced these problems
before.
thanks,
Krishan

Question: When I try to run Norton WinDoctor on my Windows XP computer I
receive the following error, "C:\Windows\System32\Mapisrvr.exe cannot access
a necessary file, Gapi32.dll." How do I resolve this issue?
Answer: This is a known issue with Norton WinDoctor because it can't locate
the Gapi32.dll files in the systemroot\System32 folder. For those out there
reading that don't know what the systemroot folder is, it is basically where
you install your operating system (example: c:\windows). You can resolve
this error by copying the Gapi32.dll file to systemroot\system32 folder. To
do this, open My Computer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\Mapi\1033 (if you don't see the file here then it may be in the
subfolder named NT) and then right-click Gapi32.dll and choose Copy. Now
navigate to C:\Windows\System32 (or systemroot\system32), then go to the
Edit menu and click Paste. All you need to do now is restart your computer.
Since this is a problem with Norton you can choose to ignore the error and
you can find the steps for doing this on Symantec's web site.

Reply:
To repair IE, goto START > RUN type in SFC /SCANNOW and click ok,
you will be prompted for your Xp cd.
This will scan and repair all Windows files, including IE, without
losing any data or settings.
