Missing files in hyperlink view......

This problem only seems to affect one person although several have access to
this web....

The web is hosted on W2000 (IIS5), clients are FP2003 on XP.

I have a user who when they go to make a hyperlink from a page, browse to a
folder but cannot then see the contents of the folder.

They CAN see the folder contents in List view and can drag from list view to
the page to make the hyperlink.

This does not affect this user in other websites hosted on the same
server.....

This does not affect me.

I have tried recalculating the web on the server, recalculating the
hyperlinks from the client with the problem as well as deleting temporary
files from the client.

Any ideas...?

Dear Leonardo,

Although I'm not familiear with 'hyperlink view', I'm going to take a stab
at an answer until more help comes to you. If 'hyperlink view' shows a user
only the hyperlinks they have already made, then, until this user makes the
hyperlink, they are not going to to see the file listed in 'hyperlink view'?
Let me know if this helps :).

Ruth,

Thank you for your response;

To clarify, when the user is making a new hyperlink the FrontPage dialogue
allows you to navigate within the structure of the website to select the file
to link to. In the problem instance the FP dialogue does not show files that
are there and can be seen in the 'List View'. This does not refer to existing
hyperlinks.

The problem also occurs when the user is trying to select an image to add to
a page, again browsing to the image folder the images are not visible but
they can be seen in list view.

2 things to try, from easiest to hardest.

Have the user close FrontPage and open the Cache folder by pasting the following in start
run and clicking OK.
%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Have them delete everything found in there ( .web files )

Reopen FrontPage and check.

If the issue still exists, close FrontPage, run regedit and got here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Settings

Then in the right panel, click the value name: FilesDetailColumns and then click Modify, and
then
clear everything from Value Data and click OK

Then do the same for FolderDetailColumns

Close the registry editor and reopen FrontPage.
