Missing file message on startup

Norman

When I boot XP Home, I get a dialog box -- wupdater
that says cannot find data1.dat. This just came up after
months of normal operation. I close the box and things
seem normal. What can I do to recover the file and put
it in the correct place or get rid of the box? Thanks

Norm;

I meant the IE icon on your Desktop, if you have one.
If not, no problem.
Try this:
Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK
Advanced tab | count the | 9 & 10
-----

These will get you Internet Properties also.
Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options
Open IE | Tools | Internet Options
