Missing Emails In the Inbox

Hi

I have a user who is running Outlook 2007 on Windows XP SP3. The user
currently pops their mail from the web hosts and synch messages with
Exchange. This morning when the user logged in all the outlook messages have
disappeared, they have not been deleted and they are not archived. Can
anyone assist in recovering these messages.

Regards

Is it only the Inbox? Is there a filter applied to it to view only unread
messages or something else?

Hi

No filters have been applied the messages were there up to yesterday
afternoon when the user left for the day.

So even Exchange messages have disappeared?

Try opening Outlook with the /cleanviews command:

Start > Run > Outlook.exe /cleanviews

Also, you could try recreating the user's Outlook profile on the PC to see
if it retrieves the Exchange email. If it's not there, it has been moved
elsewhere. Are there rules in place or could the user have dragged it to a
PST?

What about using system recovery?

When I check the Auto archive option the name of the archive is archive1.pst
however when I search the machine for this file I cannot locate it.
None of the above options have worked.

It's a hidden file. Unless you deliberately changed it, the file will be in
the same location your normal pst file is in....
