Missing document opened from IE

Hi!

I recently opened a word document from within IE (6.0.2800.1106), from
google mail if it has any relevance, and I wrote in it for a couple of
hours. I saved my progress regularly, and I closed word 2003. But then I
could not find my document!
I searched for it in "Recent", but it wasn't there, and I even did a
fulltext search (of the whole disk) of one of the words from the document,
to no avail. Does anybody have any suggestions to where this document
might be?

I am using windows 2000 (SP4).

You should never open attachments directly. The attachment itself isn't
changed, you just work on a temporary copy which, as you have found out,
isn't necessarily kept. I'm afraid there is almost certainly nothing you can
do to recover your changes.

Always save attachments somewhere before doing anything to them, and then
work on the saved copy.
