Hi everyone,

I have just run the file checker on my pc, however the SFC kept informing me
that it needed to replace some dlls and advised me to insert my XP cd, now
my PC runs with no problems what so ever so my questions are :-

1 Do I replace these files or just leave alone.?

2 My PC came with the OS files hidden on a partition, which I burnt to
CD`s, how would I get these dll files to reinstall if am advised to replace
them.?

Thanks in advance

You can direct SFC to the location of the missing files on the partition or
cd. Jym

You'll need a third-party utility to assign a drive letter to the hidden
partition. Try PartitionMagic, or just pop in the burned CD.

Hi Colin
I`ve tried the burnt cds which I created, but it keeps saying wrong cd.
could you shed some light.
Thanks

The thing I would try would be to goto My Computer, click tools, folder
options, click the view tab (second from the left) and under the second
branch under the main tree it says Hidden Files and Folders, move the curser
to the bubble that says show files. The nsee if you can find it on the file
restoration wizard. This is how I can imagine it to working. Since you have
the dll on a disk, there might be coding in the Dynamic Link Library (dll)
refering to another location on a disk even though I thought that all of the
files were written in file relevant method. You could also google the file
that you are aiming to replace and save that to a location, say your desktop,
and reference it from there.

I keep getting the message "The application has failed to start because
McRtl32.dll was not found. Reinstalling may fix the problem". The application
seems to work OK when I just ignore the message as I don't know where the dll
is or how to reinstall it. Has anyone any suggestions.

when ever I've lost a Dll file , i have gone to dll-files.com and downloaded the relevant file. It's a free service.
