Missing Data Label

R

Ramrod

I having trouble with a missing data label on a bar graph chart. My
scale only goes up to 20%, and the bar that is missing the data label
is 51%. However, I don't want to change the scale on the graph as this
will alter the appearance of the rest of the bars (the 51% is an
outlier).

I never had this problem in Excel 2000, but now I am in 2003, I can't
seem to figure it out.

Thanks for your help.

Why don't you use a scale break, you will have to show a number highe
than 20% though. Keep it a normal bar chart. Make the 51% bar go to
second axis (which you will end up setting everyting in the pattern
tab to none). In the oprions tab (Format data series) set the overla
100 and Gap width 60 - you may have to adjust the gap depending on ho
wide your bars are. You can manually add breaks to the axis and th
single bar. Set you left scale from 0-22% and the right from 30-52%
use this formula for the left custom number format axis ...

[=0.22]"52%"; 0%

This will show 52% instead of the actual 22%. If you send me you
email, I made a sample file I could send you.
