missing bar

I am not sure what it is called but the bar at the bottom of the page above
the taskbar is missing, the one that shows certificate, secure page, and
shows the page being loaded, my daughter accidently pushed a key, not sure
which one but the bar disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back

You /are/ talking about when in Internet Explorer? I assumed so from what
you posted. On the Menu Bar at the top: File Edit **View** Favorites Tools

I finally found out how to return the status bar. I don't have a view menu I
found it under the tools dropdown menu under toolbars.

You didn't inform us that you had IE7.

Actually, you still had View if you had just used Alt-V.
