MISSING all of IE favorites. where is it?

hi, I did some spring "C" drive cleaning and now my IE
favorites are ALL GONE.
I've heard other post about spyware, viruses, etc.
I tried looking for it and cannot seem to find that
particular file that contains my favorites.
can someone tell me the EXACT folder where it should be
and if it might be hiding somewhere else.
or is it completely gone (

XP PRO. current IE browser. clicked see all files.
I am the only one using PC.

It is not a file.
Look for a Favorites folder as it is not always in the same place.

Favorites location in Windows XP if installed on C:
C:\Documents and Settings\logon_name\Favorites

If not there, then search or look in the Registry.
You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
