Missing advanced button for EFS

I have a Windows 2000 Professional computer that the user wants his directory
(C:\Documents and Settings\*user name*) encrypted using EFS. When he goes to
the properties of this folder, there is no Advanced button for him to
configure encryption or compression. He has a valid certificate from the CA
that allows for the encrypting of folders. Thank you for any help that you
can provide,

Hi,

Is partition formatted with NTFS? EFS will only work on NTFS.

Another thing. Users should _not_ encrypt their profiles! The problem with
this is that user's certificates are stored in their profiles, but if you
encrypt the profile they will not be able to decrypt the private key and
will fail to access their files... (it is sort of a chicken and an egg
problem)...

Note: EFS will not protect data from being deleted from the disk if other
users have appropriate NTFS permissions (permissions that would allow them
to erase the data).
