Missing Accessories

Hello

This is a fairly new installation of XP Pro. Today I went to use
the Command Prompt. START>All Programs and there was no Accessories
showing at the top of the All Programs list?????

It was there yesterday as I used WordPad and the Command Prompt.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Shaba

This utility restores the missing shortcuts to
the Start Menu Accessories group:

Open your Control Panel and open the Add or Remove
Programs applet, click on Add/Remove Windows Components
and place a check next to Accessories and Utilities,
then click Next.

| Thanks for that, Carey....but....it's not the shortcuts IN the
| Accessories it's the actual shortcut TO Accessories that's missing.

This is getting weirder my the minute....it was already checked but I
clicked on Next anyways. It did it's thing but when I clicked
START>ALL PROGRAMS Accessories was still missing?!

I have an Admin level account but just to be sure I I logged off and
logged on as Admin....it's the same there also.

HELP! :)

Possibly corrupt user profiles.

Make sure you login to the new profile one time first before copying
from the old.

You're welcome. An after-thought... if all that is missing or wrong with
the accounts you might be able to fix it by simply copying the Start
Menu folder from your wife's account to yours rather than creating a new
profile, etc.

Good luck and keep up posted.

Oh my my.....I think I found a clue to the problem.

When I logged on as Admin NotePad popped up with this.

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

What the heck is that?????

Notepad Starts With "[.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=
@%SystemRoot%\System32\Shell32.dll,-21787" When You Start Your Computer

As I was about to do just what you said I noticed the Docs & Settings
folder was shown as hidden....I unchecked the Hidden box...hit Apply
and OK. It asked me about This folder and all sub folders....I set it
and hit OK.....everything shows now.

I just don't understand how things got set to Hidden????

BIG thanks!
