Ed--are you planning on going over to Ronnie's tomorrow am? If you are,
I'll be glad to stop by and pick you up, if you want. Might save you a
trip.

I have AVG/Spybot/Adaware on a read-write CD (we'll see if that makes a
difference as to running). I may take along a version of F Prot if I can
find one I think might run on XP. F Prot is DOS based, so we just might be
able to bypass the blocking stuff to run AVG or update on Norton.

I really think Adaware and Spybot will catch the troj and deal with it,
IF---big IF----we can run it and/or Spybot.

If all else fails, guess we can do a full system restore, and then download
some good stuff for Ronnie to help his pc stay healthier in the future.

Hey, thanks for the offer of the ride but I'm afraid I can't make it over to
Ronnie's place tomorrow. Did you forget? Tomorrow's the day I'm in for my
sex-change operation. And not even a full "system restore" will be able to
reverse this procedure.

Your Pal,
Ed.

Boy did I screw that up!

Let a personal message go flying off into the wild. Oh well----I'll never
let it happen again, I promise.

RB;
At least you didn't swear or anything.)

I see that you're using Outlook Express.
Tip:
Turn off AVG's E-mail scanning.
It doesn't provide any additional protection and it may cause problems with OE.
Keep having fun!

Hey, it's all part of the fun of Usenet- I see personal messages being
accidentally sent to the 24hoursupport.helpdesk group all the time. I hope
you can fix Ronnie's computer problems for him. If you can find out the
name of the trojan he's dealing with, you might even find that Symantec has
a removal tool for it:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/tools.list.html Failing that,
Symantec will probably have some manual removal instructions that can help
you, once you know the name of the little bugger.

Good luck,
Ian (a.k.a. "Ed" in my previous post.)
