mircosoft updates...problem

just downloaded a mircosoft update and was instructed to
restart computer. Once computer was turned off, properly,
computer now will NOT restart...states that windows could
not start and keeps attempting to start. I need
help...anyone?
 
The update notifications sent via email are NOT from Microsoft. They are
viruses.
 
I also reinstalled windows from my CD. I am experiencing
similiar problems. On my user account #1 when I first
logon to the computer the computer starts logoning on and
then logs off. On another user account #2 on the same
computer the computer logs on fine. After I logon to the
another account #2 I am able to log on to my account #1.
I have not been able to fix the problem.
