Mircosoft Access Runtime

Morning To All,

I need a little clarification and navigation regarding implementation of End
User Access Runtimes.

Does it mean using the runtime I only need one copy of Access for design
work and all other pc's have just the runtime installed, and if so is there a
user limit on the runtime if it is installed on multiple pc's

Also where can I actually download the runtime (I can't clearly find a link
to download it)

last of all , is the runtime's specfic to the version of Microsoft office,
or is there a current version that is backwardly compatible for all versions
of Office?

Thank you in advance

Correct. However, be aware that the runtime requires that you write all the
filters and special toolbar code.

You must buy it from a Microsoft vendor

Each version is specific to the specific version of Office. None are
backward compatible. If you are using Office XP you need the XP version,
likewise with Office 97, 2000, 2003. With the 16 bit versions there are also
special considerations with certain dlls that must come from a 16 bit
machine.

Thanks for your prompt reply,

Out of interest did the runtime used to be free? or is there a free option
at all like an accesss viewer bit of software? (I pretty sure it's a futile
question to ask)

Is there any microsoft vendors on the internet I can go to , just need to
get hold of prices for it

Thanks again

It's never been free. Even the first ones were about $300 or so.

That would depend upon the version you want. Access 2003 uses a product
named VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office) which should be available from
any large software vendor. Earlier version have other names (ADT, MOD, ODE)
and may require purchasing from a supplier of older software.

Arvin has done an excellent job of answering your specific runtime
questions. But for other answers you haven't thought of yet see

yeah I reccomend just installing AccessRT.MSI from the Office 2003
Professional Disc.

Everything else that these geezers reccomend is a load of crap.

Microsoft made this RIDICULOUSLY complex to implement and so Microsoft
can just blatantly **** themselves
