I've noticed recently that my volume control icon (the "speaker" by the
clock) disappears after every reboot. I'm not sure just when this happened,
actually - within the last month, though.
I can go into the control panel, and "Show volume control on the taskbar" is
checked. I uncheck, apply, then recheck and hit apply again, and the volume
control comes back... until the next reboot. I'll end up noticing it
normally when I start playing music or a DVD and go to adjust the volume,
only to see it's not there.
Like I said, a minor annoyance, but one I'd be happy to be rid of. I haven't
found anything while searching through the knowledge base.
XP Home SP1, AC'97 audio, all patches applied, all drivers up to date. (No,
this didn't happen after a driver update.)
Any ideas are welcome.
