Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV wouldn't start

I have a problem with start up of Minolta Scan Dual 4. The symptoms
are as follows. When I turn it on the green LED at the front panel
starts blinking. After launching of scanner software LED begins to
blink in a strange way (5 blinks – pause – 5 blinks – pause). And the
scanner hangs. Minolta Scan Utility after some time displays the
message "Error = 1. Unknown error. Confirm all other DIMAGE Scan
software is closed". Pushing the "On/Off" button has no effect. You
must unplug the scanner to turn it off.
The same happens with VueScan.

This problem appeared after I left the film holder inside the scanner,
turned it off and then tried to start again.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Any suggestions to solve it?

I just got the same scanner and had a simular problem....make sure the film
door is closed and click on Easy scan utility and then it should inicialize
(sp) the scanner and you should see some progress then it asks for you to
put in the film , don't put it in all the way (make sure the arrow is in the
right direction also on the film loader) yourself, it pulls it in via
software...hope this helps

To begin with: I didn't run into this problem myself.

My suggestion would be to disconnect the scanner and to completely
uninstall the software. (I don't know about registry settings -
whether they all are removed by the official uninstall process. There
seem to be a lot of them.)

Then start all over again exactly as described in the booklet: first
installing the software and then connecting the scanner.

I wish you good luck!
