Minimum running processes to support video editing.

I am thinking of using Partition Magic 8 and Boot Magic to give 2 XP
boot options, the default with all applications, virus and firewall and
the second only those needed to support video editing.
(1) How do I find out what are the essential processes to run in this
second case?
(2) Is this the best way or would it be better to use 2 passwords and
a single instance of XP and how would I get all the MS patches and SP2
applied to the second XP installation?
