Minimized windows do not appear in the Taskbar

Hi,

Minimized windows/programs do not appear in my taskbar and the language bar
icon (EN) has moved to the left of the taskbar next to the Start button. I've
downloaded the script xp_taskbar_dessktop_fixall.vbs as was recommended in
some posts, but unfortunately when I try to open the file it bring up the
message:
"Error: Could not create object named "WScript.Shell" Code 80040111." So it
seems I'm well and truly stuck!

Does anyone have any ideas how to get the taskbar to start showing the
minimised programs other that using the downloaded script?

I have Windows XP Home Edition.

Many thanks.

is your task bar locked??
it might be a long shot but... if your language bar is sitting all the
way on the left next to the start button, perhaps it was inadvertently
expanded all the way across the taskbar, that would be why your
minimized programs aren't showing up.

Jo,

Disable any script blockers and re-run the script. If that does not help,
click Start/Run and type the following command:

regsvr32 wshom.ocx

Thanks for your ideas.
No, the taskbar is not locked.
You may be right about the language bar hiding the taskbar, but I've already
tried sliding the language bar icon to the right but it keeps jumping back
to the left.

Thanks, Ramesh for your suggestions.
How do I disable the script blockers? I've already tried switching off the
security programs (Norton, etc). Is there another way to disable script
blockers?

Unless you have any script blockers installed (such as Script Defender),
ignore that part of that advice. Running that command will suffice.

Hi Ramesh,
Thanks again. However, tried running the file as you suggested but my
computer was unable to locate it. (Did the Start>Run>regsvr32 wshom.cx as
suggested).
Best wishes,

Jo,

Please look at the command again. It's "regsvr32 wshom.ocx"
