Minimize - maximize - restore Buttons are gone

Stormin' German

Working in Excel, basic Min/Max/Rest buttons in upper
right hand corner work fine, but same buttons for the
particular book I am working on have disappeared. Meaning
I can no longer copy worksheets into or out of that book
or even to new (Insert) worksheet. When clicking
on 'Insert' - 'workshet' is greyed out.
Any help much appreciated.
 
Tools--Protection--Unprotect workbook.

If that is not the answer, try asking in an Excel group.
