Migrating workstation into a domain.

P

peeps

Can anyone shed some light on this for me.
I have a peer network, all machines are 2k Pro or XP Pro. Each machine has a
user, lets use just one as an example, his name is Dave.
On Daves PC, he uses Outlook for POP3 email, his desktop is customised as
are a lot of other bits and bobs.

I now add him to the domain, OURNEWDOMAIN

So, now I had a folder for dave called
c:\documents and settings\Dave

But, after adding him to the domain, I get a new folder called something
like
c:\documents and settings\Dave.OURNEWDOMAIN

Which is based on default settings. I then have to restore his mail,
desktop and tons of other stuff.

Is there any way of taking Dave and migrating him into the domain?

Thanks

You could copy his old profile folder to the new profile folder.
Reboot the machine, log on as administrator, then follow this
path: Control Panel / System / User Profiles. Select the old
profile, then click copy. Note that anything in his new profile
will be overwritten.
