Although the help file says that it is possible to migrate Favorites from an
earlier version of Windows, it refuses to recognize my existing Favorites
file format. For me it is very important to be able to access them. In Vista
they seem to be called bookmarks. Any help would be appreciated.

What? I picked them up (from a backup copy)
and dropped them into Vista Favourites folder!

Have you tried adding any new links to any of those folders? I used a
backup copy and paste like you did and Vista wouldn't let me add any new
favourites to folders copied and pasted from XP. It would let me add though
to the folders which were already there. I posted here and was told to
export from XP then import the file to Vista, in html format. Worked great,
now it works like it should.

Delete your Favorites in the format Vista won't recognize, export from XP
with an html file then import the file to Vista Favorites. I was having the
problem you were, posted here and received this advise, the Favorites folder
now works like it should.

Works fine. I did not do anything fancy,
merely zipped the directory, and used explorer to pull it out.

Organise works fine (not often used), in fact I have done
everything I would normally do, saving a few url a day and
moving them (old and new url) about.

Well, maybe it's XP Pro, I'm a home edition. I'm adminstrator on all of our
computers. I'm glad it's working for you. :)

I just went on the network and pulled favourites
off of XP Home computers, using explorer.
