Migrating user profiles from NT to Win2000

We have 2 domains, NT 4 and Win2000. We currently use NT 4, but we
will be switching over to Win2000 domain permanently and
decommissioning NT 4. All my users currently exist in NT. I will be
using ADMT 2.0 to migrate user accounts and exchange accounts to
Win2000 domain, going from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003.

How can I migrate user profiles to the new domain? I have a few
roaming profiles, but most are local profiles. When the users log
into the new domain, will their profiles be lost? Or do I have to go
to each station and reconfigure each user profile? There must be a
simpler way.

And can ADMT migrate computer accounts also?

This may be simple questions but its got me perplexed.

Thanks

Hi Emin,

Hope this helps.
How can I migrate user profiles to the new domain?

Use ADMT ver.2 to migrate the user accounts from NT to 2000 domain.
Make sure to copy the SID information for the users migrating. Then
you can use the ADMT to migrate the computer accounts. I usually
select all options on the translate options page including the user
profiles. That will connect your old account sids and profiles to the
new domains. So if that box (the client station we just migrated) had
3 local profiles for users that where previously migrated onto the
2000 domain those users will be able to log into the new 2000 domain (
from that client box) and have the same exact profile and settings.

When the users log
into the new domain, will their profiles be lost? Or do I have to go
to each station and reconfigure each user profile? There must be a
simpler way.

No profiles will not be lost. Make sure u transfer the user accounts
first and select to copy SID.

I am not sure on how to migrate the romain profiles.
