migrating NT to 2000

Hi,

I have an strange situation (maybe not so?)

I have an NT4 box as domain controller, plus 4 2003 boxes running SQL
server. Also have a 2000 box for mail.

I would like to write the NT4 off once and for good - it's 10 years old now.

I can't use the 2003 boxes as they are running software I don't have
authority over.

I can use the 2000 box to be my pdc.

I had originally created it as a pdc on another domain, have now removed
this.

What do I do next - I need to get the info from the NT 4 box (as a bdc?) and
then kill the NT4 box and promote the 2000 to pdc?

Help please!

many thanks,

NEIL

i'm assuming you running 5.5 exchange?

Exchange is not an issue since I have taken .pst backups of everyone's
mailbox and intend to start over with Exch 2000.

Install NT 4.0 on the new box as a BDC while connected to your existing NT
4.0 domain, promote to PDC then upgrade to Win 2k and AD.

Great that's what I though, but never had to do it before hence seeking
advice!

Many thanks,
