Promote and Migrate users

Hey everyone, Hi.
If we have a Windows NT 4.0 PDC and a 2000 Advanced Server
BDC, how do we promoted the 2K BDC and migrate the users
and the trusts from the NT PDC; since NT is not an active
directory network?

Thanks

Win 2k can not be a BDC. There is no such thing. If you do not upgrade your
existing NT 4.0 PDC, sounds like you didn't, your Win 2k DC is in a
different domain from the NT 4.0 PDC. Discounting some major screw up there
is *no**way* to have a Win 2k DC and a NT 4.0 PDC in the *same* domain.

You would have to use ADMT to migrate the users from the NT 4.0 domain to
the Win 2k domain.

Since you think the two are in the same domain (and they are not) I am
guessing the two have the same domain name which will make setting up the
trust needed to use ADMT impossible.

What are you trying to do?

Thanks,
You answered my question. We were trying to do something
that is not doable.
Thank You.

That does not compute, ther is no such thing as a BDC in the W2K
architecture. All W2K DCs have a read/writeable copy of the security
database. If you plan to install and promote a W2K DC in an NT4/W2K mixed
environment, you must upgrade the NT4 PDC.
