Migrating Japanese Outlook Express 5 to Normal (UK) Outlook 2002

Hi

I know this is a bit of a strange one, but I have a laptop which has
Windows ME (Japanese) on it, and therefore OE5 too. I have just
purchased a shiny new UK laptop with Windows XP and Office 2002.

The trouble is I am having problems migrating my old OE mail across to
the new Outlook - not only can I not see the mail (even though the
address book seems to copy over), but any japanese characters in the
folder names do not seem to display properly (even though I have loaded
the extra language packs in Windows XP which allows Japanese characters
to work fine in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
M

Mitch (assuming its your name sorry)

In the regional settings (Control Panel) look for the unicode default
settings and see if you have it checked, if you do, I would assume it to be
set to English, set it to Japanese. It will not affect your English running
programs and it will basically only convert the Japenese fonts to Japanese
instead of trying to read them in English which would usually mean you get
these little dodgy boxes showing up where the words "hisashiburi" or
something would be in Japanese fonts.

Hope it helps,
Jon
