MIDI <---> RS232 Windows XP

Is it possible to connect a MIDI device to a notebook PC via USB to RS232
convertor AND some how convince the WinXP that the connected serial port is
a MIDI device?
 
You're kidding, right? You're talking about two different ports, one is USB
the other is serial. Your RS232 cable may work, but your serial port may not
accept the MIDI device. Does the "MIDI" device have an installation disk?
 
hi,sunflower need to know to get xp-pro, using protools le to recognize
tritons pro-x keyboard
