I am not getting any MIDI playback after a recent install of XP. Is this a
problem with drivers or something else, and how do i fix this? thank you

My older version of Media Player has provision to make it the default player
for a list of file types, midi included. to set it , open MP, go to
Tools>Options> File Types tab. Tick Midi if it isn't already.

If this fails, re-post and others may have other remedies.

Hello,

Ensure the volume is not muted or is not too soft.

Also check that the correct device is selected under
Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio (tab) > MIDI music
playback

You can also try changing to another device and see if that works. Remember
to adjust the volume each time you change device.

Did you install the XP driver for the sound card or on board sound chip?
