Microsoft's Product v. Ad-Aware and Others

My Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta version never seems to find any spyware;
however, Ad-Aaware and Search & Destroy find spyware on my computer. Ad-Aware
and Search & Destry find different programs. I will run one, which takes off
some spyware, and then run the other and more is taken off.

Myabe I am jaded; however, it seems like some of these products allow
spyware to remain. It would be nice to get all of the spyware off, and have
a program to keep it off and not allow any new spyware on WITHOUT SLOWING THE
COMPUTER DOWN TO A CRAWL. I had one program I was running that did work; but,
the computer crawled; so, I had to take it off and go back to periodic
checking.

A few different things I am find,
1- Most people find Cookies which MSAS will not find, and Windows Defender
will not look for either (Cookies are not the problem malware is)

2-NO one has a Full list of Malware, I find Ad-aware is close to number 1,
and MSAS around 2. Which means who has the most complete List. This list
is always being added to

I too find that MS Beta never seems to find anything which is a shame really.
JoeM is right however. There is a huge amount of this software around which
is why you should never rely on just one method of protection.
I am running a home network which is running 3 different security products
spread accross 5 machines. Vigilance is the key & there are products out
there which will not crawl your PC.
In my opinion we are all doing this the wrong way round. the majority of
files this software locates comes directly from online (or other) marketing
organisations. they synically veil this behind a facard of innocent browsing
data collection.
In my opinion (& I am looking at something for this) we should all be
sending the adaware & malware back to thise who sent it out in the first
place.
One person doing this would not cause them a problem, but with 100,000
people sending this back to them, they may take notice that most people feel
enough is enough.
Ultimately until legislation is enforcable, do as MS suggest. be vigilant &
vary your protection.

When this was Giant it used to find dozens each day but since MicroSoft took
over it never finds any spyware....I suspect that is on purpose
