Unconfirmed ! Microsoft is secretly working on a new OS with the core team
of Vista, sounds exciting? well indeed it is. Some insiders have told me
that this new OS is not based on DOS unlike all Windows and it wont be
prefix Windows just Omnigo as for now. This OS is being built for their
future devices such as Surface and upcoming Gadgets(I sense Mac OS X) and
moreover the development is moving rapidly as if Microsoft is planning to
release this by 2008 itself. The team behind this project have all been the
part of original Windows thus everybody is really enjoying working together
and enthusiastic about this upcoming OS.
Coming on to features it is confirmed that you wouldn't require keyboard or
mouse to use it, It will be used in touchscreen interface and since its
being developed from scratch specifically for such devices. It might give
Mac OS X a tough competition with gadgets like Surface, Zune Phone (maybe).

Lets hope for the best, although we can't really expect much from Microsoft
but if everything turns out well. They can gain the reputation back with the
upcoming Surface Table and the new Technologies being developed all while
giving Apple, Googler really really hard time.

Shouldn't the Vistacrew be working on fixing Vista in the first place?
We'll have to wait a long time for SP1....

Who ever wrote the article is an idiot.
First off...Microsoft is *always* working on a new OS.
Plus Microsoft has also been making non-dos based operating systems ever
since NT3.1 which was maybe 15 years ago or so.
Actaully it goes all the way back to the OS/2 venture with IBM

Prat. None of the NT-family of operating systems are based on DOS.

Actually the NT ( New Technology ) OS'es are derived more from
DEC's (Digital Equipment Corp) VMS operating system than DOS.
Just like the Urban myth that if you increment HAL one letter you
get IBM, add a letter to VMS and you get WNT. (Windows NT?).

Does that mean there will soon be an OS for a touch screen based magazine
reader I can build into the wall next to the toilet in my bathroom?

Anything worthwhile that's been done "secretly" worked on in the deepest
recesses at One Microsoft Way (meaning, intentionally leaked by MS) will
be gutted from the final product, and be released 1 or more years later
than the rumored release date. Oh, and it will have Vista's hardware
requirements times ten.

Let's look at all of the recent MS innovations:

1. Zune - Doing stellar. What are we up to now, 200 sold?

2. Xbox360 - Being outsold by everybody, including Nintendo DS. Causing
fires and deaths.

3. Origami - Did anybody buy one of these? That will admit it?

4. Vista - Still waiting for the punchline.

5. Vista 64-bit - Maybe that's the punchline.

6. XP - The punchline to Windows 2000.

7. Xbox - The original firestarter.

8. Surface - Finally caught up with how things are done on the Mac
machines running in the kids' play areas at Burger King.
