Microsoft XP Svc Pack 2 - ANY BUGS YET?

installation of Service Pack 2 for XP - and post these reports HERE

Waste of time. What needs to be posted is not the bugs, but what was wrong
with the OS to cause SP2 not to install correctly.

Basic rules - follow MS's advice to the letter & also make sure the PC is
completely free from Ad/Spyware & viruses.
I've yet to read one single complaint here yet (as far as I can recall)
where SP2 is proven to actually be buggy, they all appear to point in the
direction of people treating it as just another normal install & not
preparing their system first.

SP2 was automatically downloaded this morning (one redial needed). I then
turned off AVG and other programmes. After installation, I found that my
printer had vanished and could not be reinstalled (a message about spooling
missing). Also "Help and Support" was unstable. I tried "Restore System" to
two recent points, but was told this could not be done. After tinkering
around without success, I removed SP2. My computer now works fine again.

I plan to try reinstalling SP2 when CD-ROM arrives, but would be grateful
for any suggestions about what might have gone wrong. I installed SP2 on my
lap-top without problems.

MS DOES recommend to unplug all peripherals beforehand, printers, scanners
etc.

When I installed SP2 I disconnected all peripherals (printer, scanner and
USB-HDD), ran Enditall to close all running programs. Uninstalled both AVP
(NOD32) and firewall (Sygate) and then installed SP2. Had no problems
whatsoever. After installation reconnected peripherals, reloaded AVP and
Firewall all without problems.

Installed XP SP2 per directions. Now, while I can boot up to my desktop and
can see all desktop icons/buttons and can move my cursor around my desktop
with my mouse, when I click on "Start" or any buttons/icons, nothing happens.
I also cannot navigate with the arrows and "Enter" on my keyboard. No
buttons/icons on my desktop are functional.
