I have a document that I was able to place an image in the background
successfully. I have text that floats ontop of the image (graphic in the
background) but when I try to copy text from one word document and paste
it/replace it in the file with the image in the background the graphic
disappears. Is there a way I can lock that image in the backgound so I can
use this graphic over and over without losing it when I replace the text with
new copy. TIA. T

Make sure that the picture is formatted as Behind Text and the text is just
plain text. If you have the picture in the document layer and the text in a
text box in front of it, then when you paste text into the document, it will
replace the picture instead of the text unless you first select the text in
the text box.

If you have Word 2002 or 2003, an easy way to place your image in the
background is to use Format | Background | Printed Watermark and select your
graphic file.
