I just got my computer rebooted and now my Word doesn't work. I never got any start up disc for my computer what can I do to get it back. I prefer Word over Word Perfect which I do have but can't understand most of it since it is so different. Please help as soon as possible since I really need my Word back

Install Microsoft Word with the MS Word/Office CD.
Without the CD it can not be installed.

Otherwise contact the computer manufacturer since they should have
provided the media.

Well, when you say you got your computer 'rebooted' I'm not sure what you
mean. What rebooted means is you either turned your computer off, then
turned it back on, or you just hit the restart key, which does the same
thing, shuts it down then restarts it.
So, do you mean to say that after you shut your pc down, then started it up
again Word was missing?
When you say you don't have any startup disks, does that mean you don't have
any of the disks that should have come with your pc, had you bought it new?
Try this, just to see if word is anywhere to be found on your pc.
First, go to
Start>All programs. See if you find the Word icon. IF not, then try this,
Go to Start>search> type in WORD, in both boxes.
See if anything with the WORD is listed.
Post back with your results.

When I say rebooted i had theWindows XP put back on my system. I had problems and was missing some major XP systems. And no I don't have any start up discs that should have came with a brand new computer. When ever I open Word I get this message. "Microsoft Word 2002 has detected a signifcant change in your machine configuration. For Microsoft Word 2002 to continue functioning properly, and to avoid entry into reduced functionality mode, you must reactivate your product. With the product in reduced functionality mode, you will not be able to save or create new documents, and other product functionality will be reduced. To start the reactivation process, please insert your MicrosoftWord 2002CD." I don't have that CD.

If it was a Dell, You have a time-limited trial version of Word. It has
expired, and in order to reactivate you will have to either buy a retail
version, or insert the Word2000 CD and let it go online and re-register,
which will put it back into a limited functionality. You should call Dell
tech Support and discuss this with them. They will be able to give you much
more precise information than anyone here.

What is "RAC"?
Exactly what do you mean by "i had theWindows XP put back on my
system"?
Did somebody do it for you?
Exactly what was done?

If the computer did not come with any CDs, you may need to buy what
you want installed.

Rent a Center it's a rent to own store. I had Windows XP on my computer but then things started to get screwed up. So I had somebody put the XP system back on my computer. It's like it was when you first get a computer but without all of the Word stuff. When you first start up the computer the first screen the hit F2 I think and went from there. Where would I buy the Word disc and do you know how much? Also if I bought a Dell computer with Windows XP already on the computer then why should I have to buy the disc? It should already be there.

Word or anything else should only be there if the seller chose to sell
those with the computer.
You can buy Microsoft Word at most computer stores as well as a great
many major chain stores such as Staples, Office Max, Wal-Mart etc.

If you do not have a Windows XP CD, you may need to buy that as well.

Microsoft Word is a word processing programme which can be purchased
separately or as part of Microsoft Office. It can be purchased at any
computer shop. Windows XP is the computer, operating software which enables
applications ( programmes ) like Word and Word Perfect to run on the
computer.

I would suggest you visit a proper computer repair shop for advice and not
rely on help from "friends" who seemingly do not understand computers!
