I just tried to use my Mircrosoft Word program which was pre-installed when I
bought my computer...I was trying to type out a simple letter...the promblem
is that after about 8 to 10 minutes..the program stops working...there is a
message stating that my runtime on this program application has run out...I
can't save my work or do nothing else...have to exit the program...can anyone
tell me why this is happening or what I have to adjust to fix this....please
respond with any suggessions at all...I am lost....

Sound like you got a "trial offer on Office" with your computer and the trial period has expired.
Unless you pay the license fee, or buy a copy of Office, you are SOL. Either will be about $400.

You could download a copy of OpenOffice from http://download.openoffice.org/
You can set it up to simulate Word, Excel, Power Point etc.

Until you get this sorted out, since all you are doing is typing a
simple letter, why don't you just use WordPad?

Also, what is the *exact* message you are receiving?
