Microsoft Word 2000 sr-1

Rebecca Valenzuela

I recently downloaded AOL 9.0 and after I did I noticed
that I was not able to open up my Microsoft word. I get
an error message that says Microsoft Word for Windows has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience
Error: App Name: winword.exe. App Ver. 9.0.0.3822
Mod Name: winword.exe Mod Ver 9.0.0.03822 Offset:
00295c27

I was told to look for a normal dot files and rename but
when I entered a search for normal.dot files I could not
locate any. I have removed word and reinstalled it many
times and that did not solve the problem. I am able to
open my document using word pad. If anyone can walk me
through this I would deeply appreciate it.

Thanks,

Rebecca

Since you suspect AOL caused the problem, probably best to go on AOL
support forums and find out the fix to this problem. You may wish to
consider back out of this AOL upgrade.

The normal.dot approach may be good. Surely, following an install of
word, normal.dot will great created. Search again. Look carefully at
the search options to ensure you are looking at the whole disk.
