Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard interference

Im having the issue that i have 2 users which have the same setup as in they
both have the microsoft wireless kb and mouse. there offices are next to
each other so the units are no more than about 5 metres apart. On monday i
changed the battries in both sets as they were low and now one wireless
keyboard takes comtrol of the other pc. is there anyway to fix this??? Ive
tried different batteries, updating the drivers and nothing works. because
of the model there isnt an option that i can find to change the frequency
either. I can be the only to have this problem. Please can someone help.

It is a microsoft wireless multi media keyboard and the mouse is a microsoft
wireless optical mouse. Not the Version 2

Courtesy of Barb Bowmans web page..

Cordless mouse and keyboard products from Microsoft, Logitech (including
private label equipment for HP and others), IBM, and other major vendors, 6
foot coverage, not necessarily line of sight. In an office or SOHO
environment, close proximity of like branded devices can cause "cross talk"
where a device in one office cube can cause another mouse pointer to move.
Change channels to compensate (and wait at least 25 minutes between setting
up computers).

There should be reset buttons on the underside of the units.. these buttons
are small but as I understand change channel such that more than one set can
be used in close proximity..

It has a resync button but thats it and its not resolving the issue.
Management have decided to go with a bluetoooth unit instead
