What exactly do you mean by "windows spreadsheet"? There are many different
spreadsheet programs that run on Windows and therefore could be called
"windows spreadsheets".

Install a copy of Quartro Pro on the laptop. Or read Quartro's Help
files to see if it can export data in a format that the spreadsheet
application (there's no such thing as "windows spreadsheet, btw)
installed on the laptop can open or import.

Sorry I wasn't very explicit in my question. Both of my computers are
Dells's. My desktop has windows xp and came with word perfect 11 installed
that has quatro pro. My new laptop is windows vists and come with Microsoft
Works installed which has a windows spreadsheet. The two computers are
networked together so I would like to be able to open spreadsheet files from
Quatro pro to windows spread sheet. There is no file ext. listed for it.
Quatro Pro ext. is qpw. Thank you in advance for any help.

No. I don't have Micosoft office installed. I said previously what I have
installed. I don't want to buy anything additional.

Microsoft Works Spreadsheet cannot open a file created using
Quattro Pro. Follow Mr. Bruce Chamber's suggestion and
install a copy of Quarto Pro on the laptop.

Hi Peggy,
I don't know much about Quattro but maybe it has an export
function in the file menu?
If it does you would need to export to a Microsoft
Excel file.
..XLS
Then you should be able to open it.

Then you might want to post to the Works group & detail your version of
Works, as to how to export or import
The group is; microsoft.public.works.win
This has nothing to do with Vista or WinXP

Peggy,

Another option is to install the 'free' OpenOffice suite (see
www.openoffice.org) and download & install a copy of that. The OpenOffice
suite is a Microsoft Office clone that works pretty well. This is what I
have done to convert Quatro Pro to other formats.

Hope this helps...

Thank you. I didn't find an export per se but I found out that I can change
the extension to xls. and that works. I can open that file on Works
spreadsheet. Problem solved!!! I would never have thought of that if you
hadn't suggested the export thing.

Your question is very confusing, and I'm not at all sure I understand.
Are you saying that you have saved Quattro Pro files (.qpw files?) on
your desktop computer, and that they won't open across the network on
your laptop computer?

If the above guess is correct, please verify that Quattro Pro is also
installed on your laptop. If it's not, that's very obviously the
reason you can't open them.

How can I get them
to open?

Assuming that the above guesses are correct, install Quattro Pro on
your laptop.
