Microsoft VM update

On a new install of XP Pro Windows update is trying to install an update for
Virtual Machine.

On trying the message comes up "This setup will only upgrade over an
existing version of the Microsoft VM.

As the Microsoft VM is no longer available I installed the Sun Micorsystem's
VM.
Only trouble is the update won't apply to the Sun Version.

Assuming I stick with the Sun version how do I delete the update sitting in
the taskbar and prevent the update downloading again.

You can however,go to http://www.msn.com search,type:Microsoft Java
Virtual Machine In results, locate the MJVM download (it'll have x86 on it),
install, then install the upgrade. You can find the upgrade also in update
catalog,
software,server 2003,web edition.This update is for xp.

Detlev. I've tried installing 3805 prior to installing 3810. Message comes
up saying "This setup will only upgrade over an existing version of the
Microsoft VM".

I don't have an existing version to install. That is the problem. I don't
have any version of MS VM installed at the moment.

Where to from here.

That's interesting. The latest MS Java VM (3810) is installed on all of
my machines. There was no problem to install an older version first
and there was no problem to install the latest version on top. Your
problem occurred only when trying to install the latest version first.

Looks like a good idea to stick with the Sun version at the moment.
BTW, it's parallel installed on all of my machines also. The Windows
update is a *critical* update most likely, otherwise you may want to
try to personalize your Windows update settings. No further idea at
this moment.
