Microsoft Visual Basic error message

Have been running Word 2000 and Excel 97 on XP/Home
machine without problems. Now when I open either program,
I get an error message: Compile error in hidden module
AutoExec. I tried reinstalling the programs. No help. I
find I can ignore the message and continue working in the
programs, but should I?

Garry, I had the same problem when opening a 3rd party application. I went to
that programs web site and downloaded an update to solve the problem. Unless
you are a Visual Basic programmer, you do not need the program.

Sounds like it could be Adobe Acrobat has installed its PDF generator
sdd-in and crashing the system. The usual fix is to delete the toolbar
files for each app, *.tlb from the Office/Excel folders.
