I get a "Microsoft Visual Basic" error message stating that the program
has a "Compile error in hidden module: Autoexec".
This message occurs whenever I start the Word program from Office XP. I
can cancel the error window and continue use of Word until I close the
program then the error window pops up with the same message.

I have tried deleting the program and reinstalling to no avail. Would I
have to do a more complete removal by eliminating all references within
the registry?

Any suggestions to fix or the origins of the problem "Windows XP" or "Word"

Word. (so try the word newsgroup).

Have you run a virus/trojan scan on this system recently? What do you
see by way of VBA modules (left hand pane) if you hit alt-F11 when you
are in Word? Have you tried deleting (or renaming) normal.dot (the
standard word template) to see if that cures the problem?

I worry when I see things like 'hidden module' .. if it didn't have a
compiler error in it, maybe it would be busy doing something unpleasant,
like deleting your disk. If it was something that MS had intended to be
there, I doubt it would have a compiler error. 8<,
