Microsoft Update

I have a Toshiba Satellite A30, with Windows XP Home Edition with SP2.
Yesterday my Microsoft Update scan showed 2 High Priority Updates for my PC.
MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978) &
MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB925672).
As they were High Priority I installed both of them.

Today both of these updates reappeared as needing to be installed in MS
Updates.
I reinstalled thinking they may not have installed correctly.(even though
results in Updates showed they were both successfully installed).

I checked Add/Remove Programs & they both appeared as being installed.

I ran MBSA & it showed that my PC had a security assessment of "Severe Risk".
Results showed that (MS06-061) MSMXL 4.0 SP2 Security Update
(KB927978)wasn't installed, together with (MS06-071) MSMXL 4.0 SP2 Security
Update (KB925672).
MBSA Solution for both was to visit MS Updates to install them or I could
install them from the Results section of MBSA report.
I decided to download both of them via the Results section.

I saved the files & and when you try o run the files, the wizard asks you
whether you want to Modify, Repair or Restore.

What am I supposed to do?

Hi Yasin

I checked out the links you provided & found that there is no search record
of the 2 "KB" files & also no record in regedit.

I have tried to reinstall both files again through Updates & MBSA still
gives me the same result.

So my only other option is to try to install the 2 files, but don't know
which option to use, ie Modify, Repair or Restore.

What do you suggest?

Have you used the Symantec removal tool lately? Was culprit in just such a
problem you describe.

Wow, thats interesting. I would suggest trying respair, and then restore if
repair didn't work, sometimes the updates need a pep talk : )

let me know how it goes,

I suggest you look through the posts in, and if needed post to the windows
update newsgroup.

If memory serves me, a repair wipes out all restore points.
