I have XP Home Edition

Yesterday I checked and I was up to date.

Today I have 11 (eleven) priority updates.

Is that possible? Or is something wrong with my computer?

Microsoft has, for quite some time now, released its new updates on the
first Tuesday of every month. Only critically important security
patches might be released off-cycle, as needed.

Yes, the second Tuesday of the month is called "Patch Tuesday." It's the day
when Microsoft releases all the updates for the month.
