Microsoft Sidewinder Controller

Paul Richards

Hi

OS: Windows XP

I have a Sidewinder Freestyler Pro and a Sidewinder Froce
Feedback pro. All of which worked on my old computer
(still running XP) and connected through the game port
(not usb). Now on getting a new computer, it doesn't have
any game ports (bigger then a serial, smaller then a
pararell). So after shoppping around i found
this 'Joystick convertor' which you plug in the joystick
to this box and this goes to the usb. It has a mode
switch on it for different types of controllers. The
computer will reckonise the box and when i click hardware
and run the sidewinder auto detect nothing is found. Any
software i have doesn't work. One of my controllers i
know came with a convertor but since lost. If anyone can
help i would be very thankful. It seems such any easy
problem but i can't fix it.

Thank you

The Gameport Sidewinder devices do not have the relevant information hard
coded inside them to 'tell' a USB port what it is that is connecting to the
PC.

You have two solutions here:

Purchase a separate soundcard which has an older gameport controller on
it....
or
Purchase a new USB joystick.
