I am trying to install 2007 Microsoft Office on to the Windows Vista product
line and it isn't working. The application error dialog appears states,
"Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working." The error from the event
log is, "Faulting application setup.exe_Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper, version
12.0.4518.1014, time stamp 0x454280c5, faulting module unknown, version
0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset
0x0004d830, process id 0xc24, application start time 0x01c7449f6ad7ef39."

I get the same error trying to install Office 2003 and Quicken 2007.
Did you ever find a soulution?

Not yet. No further help from Microsoft Support. I may try a re-install of
Vista next.

You might want to try installing from a different drive. By accident I found
that the program would install without incident if I used one of my other
cd/dvd drives. If anyone has any thoughts on the matter, it's a DVD R/RW
that has the problem installing. I found that I had the same problem
installing onto my laptop when using the DVD R/RW drive on it as well.
Change the drive and everything worked fine.

Loading the Office CD into the other DVD/RW drive did work. Also was able to
load Quicken 2007 from there and not the other drive. Wonder what that's all
about?
