Seems I read Microsoft does not send attachments and any that come are bogus
and have virus. Is this correct

Hi

Yes, you are correct. Microsoft do not send out attachments. Have a look
at the following article:

"Information on Bogus Microsoft Security Bulletin E-mails"
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/Security/news/patch_hoax.mspx

Don't ever be fooled by anyone sending or saying that
Microsoft is sending a patch or a fix by an attachment.
That just does not happen. Don't open ANY attachments
that say this.

Repeated from another newsgroup because it's short:

"Yes, it's correct that Microsoft doesn't send fixes via E-mail
attachments. And it's a good presumption that anything like that
you get contains a virus."

Please do not send the same message separately to more than one
newsgroup. Doing so just fragments the thread, so someone who
answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to see answers from others
in another newsgroup.

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup,
please do so by crossposting (but only to a *few* related
newsgroups).
