As we know from independent sources, Microsoft is busy
[0]readying Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. They have published on their
website a [1]changelist document (link goes to TechNet download page)
detailing the nature of the security-related fixes and updates. The
document is targeted towards XP admins and covers some interesting things
such as the new Internet Explorer Pop-up Manager and various security
policy changes. Some other juicy tidbits from the document: Internet
Connection Firewall will be enabled by default, and there will be new
support for something called "Execution Protection" which allows
developers to make use of the NX (no execute) page guard flag on Intel's
Itanium and newer AMD processors. An interesting read."

of the functionality bugs in XP, such as a virtually-unusable/undependable
search utility.
I shouldn't have to depend on a third-party free program, such as Agent
Ransack, to ensure I am finding files -- and the contents of files -- that I
am looking for, and that I am unable to locate by using the native XP
Windows Explorer.

If I tell you that I know there is a fix for this problem, you (well
not actually you, because we now know that you need us to present the
solution to you on a silver platter) could, oh I don't know....go to
google.com or msdn.microsoft.com or an OE newsgroup and
perhaps....ummmm....search for it yourself?
Oh. yes, and you could even say something like "Thanks. I thought I
was stuck with this behavior, but now I can get off my butt and
locate the fix you mention and have my problem solved.
"Your welcome."
Either help the OP, or shut up..
of a "work-around" rather than a fix. Until MS fixes it ;-)Tom Pepper Willett said:Scott: I read the URL you provided. I think it should be classified more
